Nokia is entering the netbook game with the Nokia Booklet 3G. I have been toying around with the idea of picking up a netbook, but I’m not convinced that netbooks aren’t a fad. Cramped keyboards and displays and a slow processor hardly make for an enjoyable computing experience.
Watch out for the CrunchPad or the rumored applet tablet to give the netbook industry a run for its money. With the proliferation of touch screen smartphones, people are adapting quickly to the technology and might forgo an attached keyboard for the feature set that these devices will have.
If the beforementioned devices end up bombing, I could very well eat my words and pony up for one of these Nokia Booklets. It looks beautiful, has 12 hours of battery life, every kind of connectivity you would ever want, but unfortunately comes with Windows installed. If Jolicloud puts it on their supported hardware list, that would definitely sweeten the pot. We’ll see…
